Inducts Newest Member and Hosts Assistant Governor

Kerrville Morning Rotary members recently welcomed Laura Bechtel to the club. “It is an honor and pleasure to join Rotary and to serve with fellow members as they make continuing improvements to our community and the world,” Bechtel said. Kerrville Morning Rotary membership chair, Lew McCoy, said “We continue to add quality membership, such as Laura, a person at a time.”
Bechtel currently serves as Library Director for the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library where she has served for over three years. She earned her Master’s in Information Services at the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s in Anthropology from the University of Cincinnati.
In addition to welcoming a new member, Morning Rotarians were treated to a visit by District 5840 Assistant Governor (AG), Carole Reed, and her husband Jim. Reed, beginning her first term as AG, said she looks forward to working with Morning Rotary. Having served as president and a current member of a similar club, Fredericksburg Morning, she focused her comments on the exchange of ideas.
"Kerrville Morning Rotary was honored to have Carole Reed, our assistant governor, speak to the club at our Thursday morning meeting. As assistant governor, Carole's main job is to act as a liaison between her clubs and the district governor. She is a former president of the Fredericksburg Morning Club and shares her unique insight and experience with the clubs that she visits," said Mike Hunter, President.
